Washington Terrace Park is a 27 acre park located in the central area of High Point. The park opened to the public in 1937. Since that time the park has undergone many improvements including the addition of a Community Center in 1998.
The park features a 25 yard by 50 meter swimming pool with a bath house and viewing terrace, three unlighted tennis courts, eight picnic shelters, two lighted basketball courts, a regulation softball field, performing stage, outdoor fitness stations, community building, six horseshoe pits, volleyball court, two playgrounds, Greenway trail, a concession area and a lot of open play and activity space.
Areas of the park may be rented for the exclusive use of your group. Rentals are confirmed on a first paid, first served basis. Area day care centers, churches, day camps, families, special interest groups and businesses frequently rent areas of the park. Call the park to request a date and obtain rates.
Anyone renting the pool must employ the required number of lifeguards from the Washington Terrace lifeguard staff. The rental rate does not include lifeguard cost.
The park sponsors craft days, concerts, athletic contests and tournaments, swim meets and a Learn to Swim program. There are also a variety of programs and activities held year round at the park and in the Community Center.
The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12:00pm-6:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm during the summer months. Playgrounds and the park's open space are available year round for drop-in use or for reservation. The Picnic areas and athletic facilities are available to the public by reservation only.
