Our coaches teach the fundamentals of football and game rules. Participants will receive a T-shirt and trophy. This league focus is on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. We will have a parent's meeting at 10a.m. on Saturday, October 2. |

Shooting StarsSaturdayAugust 21, 2010 9:30a.m.-12p.m. Fee:$2.00 per person Deadline for enrollment: 8/13/10 Show off your shooting skills. Mats will be placed on the gym floor with each representing a point value. Shooters will have 45 seconds to score as many points as you can. There will be 3 rounds and points do not carry over to the next round. The top 4 will advance to the second round, with the top 2 advancing to the championship round. The shooter with the most points will win. In case of a tie, a 30-second shootout will be held. Participants will be divided into two age groups; 6-8 & 9-12. Trophys will be awarded. |

Dedicated staff supervise participants as they complete homework, play gym and outside games, create arts and crafts projects, go on field trip and have special events. This program operates on days when school is in session. |

Trailblazers Summer CampMonday-Friday7:30a.m.-6p.m. Fee:$65.00 per week, plus activity fees Summer program for rising middle school youth. Participants are supervised as they participate in organized game time, outdoor play, arts & crafts, field trips, guest speakers, community service, movies, skits, discussion groups, educational programs and more. Lunch and one snack are provided daily. Parents are responsible for an additional snack. Registration is done by the week. Participants can pick a particular week they want to attend or they can sign up for the whole summer. Program runs through the week of August 16. |
Y.E.S. Summer Day Camp - Youth Exploring SummerMonday-Friday7:30a.m.-6p.m. Fee:$65.00 per week, plus activity fees Oakview provides a fun and safe environment for elementary students to spend their summer. Participants are supervised as they participate in a variety of activities from group games, gym times, field trips, guest speakers, movies, dances, skits, talent shows, educational activities and much more. Lunch and one snack are provided each day. Parents are responsible for additional snack. Registration is done on a weekly basis so parents can choose particular weeks for their child to attend or they may sign up for the entire summer. Program is for rising K-5th graders. Program runs through the week of August 16. |

Dog ObedienceTuesdaySeptember 14, 2010 - October 19, 2010 7-8p.m. Fee:$35.00 per dog/per session Deadline for enrollment: 2nd Day of Session Instructor: Shirley Probert & Jean Wright Qualified instructors teach pet owners techniques to train their dogs using verbal and hand commands. Basic commands such as sit and stay, ways to walk with your dog, as well as socialization with other dogs and people are taught. Owners leave the class with a set of tools to better train their dogs. Participants must bring the pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats. |

Dance This….Hip Hop/African Dance ClassThursdays6-7p.m. Fee:$20.00 per month Instructor: Alana Frost Instructional dance class for youth ages 5-13 in hip-hop, african and jazz. This is a fun, energetic class where participants will learn moves, techniques and routines for a bi-annual recital. All levels of experience are welcome. Program will run on a monthly basis beginning August 5. |
GO FARMonday & Wednesday; Race Day - SaturdaySeptember 13, 2010 - November 29, 2010 4-5p.m. Fee:$15.00 per person Deadline for enrollment: 9/24/10 This program is for students currently in elementary and middle school. The program goal is to help each participant train for and complete a 5-kilometer road race while also promoting healthy living. Each program session will incorporate physical and mental training. Each week the participants will study a different topic that is aimed towards character building. Examples of these topics include sportsmanship, caring and responsibility. Each session during the week will also have a different theme that is designed to teach the participants life skills. Examples of these life skills include nutrition, self defense and proper and healthy exercise techniques. At the completion of the 10-week training, each participant will be given the opportunity to complete the 5-kilometer road race. Parents and family members are permitted and encouraged to complete the road race with their child. The race date is set by GO FAR and will be announced during training. |

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a parade and competition. Students completing the course with perfect attendance will receive a cheer medal. Young Champions - Children's Self Defense/KarateThursdaysSeptember 23, 2010 - January 6, 2011 6-6:45p.m. (beginners); 6:45-7:30p.m. (advanced) Fee:$7.00 registration fee, $7.00 per class Deadline for enrollment: 3rd Class This fun course for children ages 5-14 is designed for self-defense purposes emphasizing child safety awareness. AHOY Trip - Greenway Walk & PicnicTuesdaySeptember 14, 2010 10a.m.-1p.m. Join us at the Piedmont Environmental Center for an informative walk along the Greenway. The PEC staff will lead the walk and help participants identify birds and their calls. The morning will conclude with a picnic lunch at the tables by the pond at Mendenall Place. |

Halloween BoozaarSaturdayOctober 30, 2010 6-8p.m. Fee:$3.00 - Entry fee includes 8 tickets Bring out your kids for a fun, safe Halloween event. Carnival games will be set up in the gym for youth to play and win prizes and candy. Arts and crafts projects will be available as well as bingo for parents. Come dressed to impress. The evening will conclude with a costume contest at 7:45pm. Prizes will be awarded for scariest, funniest, cutest and most original. Additional carnival game tickets can be purchased for $0.25 each. |
