    Spring Craft Craze

    Fee:$2.00 per person
    Spring is here, so if you like to paint, draw or create a masterpiece come to our Craft Craze! This is a great family friendly program for all to enjoy. We will have a potpourri of arts & crafts to choose from and you can take your masterpiece home to display. We will also have supplies to make an Easter creation.

    Deadline for enrollment: 4/17/10
    Get your 3-5 year old involved with a mini-camp to see if your child is interested in playing soccer. We will teach basic skills of dribbling, kicking and defense. Soccer skill games will be played throughout the camp.

    After School Program

    2:30-6p.m. 
    Fee:$75.00 per month/per child + activity fees
    This is a program that caters to elementary school children. We will pick up your child from school by van transportation and bring them to a safe program site. We have a structured program that consists of gym time, snack time, homework time, craft time and organized play inside and outside. Call for more information and to find out which schools we provide transportation for our program. Program runs throughout the school year.

    School's Out - All Day Program

    Fee:$15.00 per person/per day
    Deadline for enrollment: 2 days prior to each date
    This program provides a fun, safe environment for your child when they are out of school. Activities include gym games, outside play, arts & crafts, movies, field trips and more. Look for registration forms two week prior to each date. Lunch and snack need to be provided by parents.

    Spring is here and it's time to start thinking about your gardens. Join us for an informational session about how to get started with your garden and how to keep your garden looking great. Learn how to grow your own foods to start a healthier lifestyle. A gardening professional from the NC Cooperative Extension will be here to lead the session, so come prepared to learn all you need to know about gardening.

    Girlz Nite Out

    Young ladies, join us for a night to learn dinner etiquette while enjoying the Japanese dinner experience. We will take a trip to Asahi's Japanese Restaurant in Greensboro where the girls will have fun watching their dinner cooked in front of them.

    Used Shoe Drive Fundraiser

    Monday-Saturday
    9a.m.-9p.m. (Monday-Thursday); 9a.m.-6p.m. (Friday); 9a.m.-1p.m. (Saturday) 
    Join a win, win situation. Help our Starlight Dancers and aid the global community. You can make a world of difference in your environment, community and to families in third world countries. Simply donate your new or used shoes. Ask your friends, family and neighbors to help too. We ask that the shoes be in wearable condition. No women's boots, steel toed shoes, shoes with heels over 4 inches or rubber thongs. Together we can make a difference. Donations will be accepted through May 31, 2010.

    AHOY Exercise Program

    Tuesday & Thursday
    11-11:45a.m. 

    Seniors, come enjoy and exercise tape that has both seated exercises as well as stand up aerobics. Come fellowship with new and old friends as well as limber up those stiff joints in an air conditioned gym. This group travels on a bi-monthly basis to enjoy shopping, food and fun away from the City.

    Chair Volleyball

    Seniors, it's a new year so it's time to try something new or something you haven't done in a while. Get your sweat clothes on and be active. Chair Volleyball is a great sport for you to get active. All ability levels are welcome. If you can sit in a chair and hit a beach ball, you can play! We could even form a Morehead team for Senior Games.

    Starlight Dancers

    Thursdays
    5:30-6:45p.m. 

    Fee:Registration Fee - $15.00 per person; $20.00 per month
    Instructor: Cathy Kirby
    Students will be taught modern, jazz, hip hop and African dance. Students will participate in several parades and special events. A one-time registration fee includes a Starlight Dancer T-shirt. Leotards and tights are required. Students will need to be in proper black dance attire. Rules will be posted and students will need to adhere to classroom etiquette for dance. Contact Morehead Recreation Center at 883-3506 for session dates.

    Walkers Club

    Tuesday & Thursday
    10-11a.m. 

    Seniors are encouraged to come out and walk laps in our air conditioned gym. 18 laps = 1 mile. Come walk and fellowship with friends prior to our exercise class that follows. You may walk 1 lap or 5 miles, but every bit helps keep you fit.

    "Flashlight" Easter Egg Hunt

    6:30-8:30p.m. 
    This program is designed for youth ages 3-12. Get your flashlights ready to come hunt for Easter eggs filled with candy and prizes! We will divide youth to search in different locations. Toddlers will search in the gym with the lights off, while older youth will be outside. Make sure you bring a working flashlight. Prize eggs will be included in the hunt, so check your eggs after the hunt to claim a prize.

    Afternoon Action Day

    Deadline for enrollment: 3/25/10
    Schools out so elementary and middle school students get out for an afternoon of gym games, PS2 and more! What else do you have to do when there's no school. Join us and other students for games, food and fun. A light snack will be served.

    Red Cross Blood Drive

    The is an open Blood Drive sponsored by the American Red Cross. We are looking for City employees and our local community to come out and support the Red Cross. They are always running low and here is your chance to make a difference in our community. Please come out and support them.

    Senior St. Patricks Day Bake Off

    Seniors, get ready to bring out your best sweets to get judged and win a prize! Enjoy the fellowship while eating some of your fellow senior's baking.

    Spring Jump Off

    Get your child dressed to impress so they can experience a night out dancing with their friends. This is a spring time dance for your elementary aged children to come and show us the latest and greatest dances. A snack and drink will be provided.
