League includes Open, Recreational, Church and Industrial teams. Teams will play a minimum 12-game schedule with a single elimination tournament. Trophies will be awarded to team regular season champion with 12 individuals, team regular season runner-up, team tournament champion with 12 individuals, team tournament runner-up. NFHS basketball rules will be followed with modifications. Deadline for entry is December 9. |

We will progress to a small project. You will need to supply your own materials. The needle should have a point with a cap or knob that prevents the stitches from falling off. A medium size needle (7cm) will be the appropriate size for a small project. |

Dog Obedience - Oakview Recreation CenterTuesdaySeptember 14, 2010 - October 19, 2010 7-8p.m. Fee:$35.00 per dog/per session Deadline for enrollment: 2nd Day of Session Instructor: Shirley Probert & Jean Wright Qualified instructors teach pet owners techniques to train their dogs using verbal and hand commands. Basic commands such as sit and stay, ways to walk with your dog, as well as socialization with other dogs and people are taught. Owners leave the class with a set of tools to better train their dogs. Participants must bring the pet's shot record, a 6' non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats. |

If you are living with one of these diseases, this class is for you. It will provide skills and tools to live a more healthy life with chronic conditions. Our instructor is a Guilford County Public Health Department Community Health Educator. The class is free and a student workbook will be given to everyone who attends all six classes. AHOY Senior Exercise - Allen Jay Recreation CenterMondays & Wednesdays10-11a.m. Exercise program that will feature chair aerobics. Get a great total body workout without ever leaving your chair. Great for Senior citizens or those with limited mobility. Throughout the fitness class participants will use many exercise tools such as balls and bands as they exercise to music. Although many of the participants are fully ambulatory and independent in their lives, using a chair for exercise removes the danger and fear of falling. Please call ahead so we can obtain a head count, but you are more than welcome to just drop by. |

GO FAR - Oakview Recreation CenterMonday & Wednesday; Race Day - SaturdaySeptember 13, 2010 - November 29, 2010 4-5p.m. Fee:$15.00 per person Deadline for enrollment: 9/24/10 This program is for students currently in elementary and middle school. The program goal is to help each participant train for and complete a 5-kilometer road race while also promoting healthy living. Each program session will incorporate physical and mental training. Each week the participants will study a different topic that is aimed towards character building. Examples of these topics include sportsmanship, caring and responsibility. Each session during the week will also have a different theme that is designed to teach the participants life skills. Examples of these life skills include nutrition, self defense and proper and healthy exercise techniques. At the completion of the 10-week training, each participant will be given the opportunity to complete the 5-kilometer road race. Parents and family members are permitted and encouraged to complete the road race with their child. The race date is set by GO FAR and will be announced during training. |
