HIGH POINT POLICE DEPARTMENT

Chief Jim Fealy's Welcome

Chief Jim FealyWelcome to the High Point Police Department's website. I am very proud to represent the men and women who have chosen to make a difference in High Point through law enforcement.  While the challenges of modern law enforcement change constantly, the basics of treating everyone with dignity and respect are the cornerstone of High Point Police Department's operating principles. The more our citizens understand what their police department does and why, the stronger we will all be as a community of law- abiding citizens.  This website is an expression of our desire as a department to be forthright with our citizens:  we're here to serve with honesty and integrity.

We have tried to make this site as interactive as possible:  links to state and federal websites of interest have been provided, as well as links to Crimestoppers, on-line reports, applications and forms.  We are particularly proud of P2C (which stands for Police to Citizens) where citizens can look up and print out a police report of an incident in which they were involved; and Crimemapping, which will map incidents anywhere in the City.

I have one Lieutenant Colonel and three Majors who oversee the direct operations of the police department.

Lieutenant Colonel Marty Sumner, Deputy Chief, is second in command to me, Chief Jim Fealy.  He is responsible for the HIgh Point Model and Focus Deterrence strategy and the point of contact for media relations.  He is also responsible for Major Crime Deterrence and Prevention division.  The High Point Police Department divides the city into two geographical areas, north and south.  Major Eddie McCluney is responsible for the north district, and Major Ken Shultz is responsible for the south district.

HPPD has been honored in recent months to receive coverage of our Violent Crime and Street Drug Crime Initiatives,  most notably in The Wall Street Journal and on CBS Evening News. We have also received the Innovations in American Government Award from the Ford Foundation. These innovative strategies, similar in operation but having different emphasis depending on need, can be better understood by viewing the High Point Community Against Violence video. Our success through these Initiatives is most vividly seen in a sustained reduction in violent crime over the past 9 years, as illustrated in our current Annual Report.

Thanks again for visiting our website.  It is our duty and pleasure to protect and serve the citizens of North Carolina's International City, High Point, North Carolina.

Our Mission...

Is to work with our citizens to provide for their safety, the safeguarding of their property, and to protect their ability to enjoy their rights by providing the ultimate in professional policing.
