The campus of Citizen U. doesn't have any historic buildings or landmarks, like Roberts Hall on the campus of High Point University(pictured above), but we figure that your home or office is probably a more comfortable place to learn, and classes start whenever you're ready.

Since understanding the ins and outs of planning, development and building in High Point can be a bit confusing, and not always the most exciting topic to explore, we've created Citizen University. C.U. is designed to explain the terminology, the processes, the how-tos and what-ifs of planning, development and building through a series of "courses" comprised of short and easy to use web pages.  Our courses are intended for anyone who wants to learn more about how High Point works, grows and reshapes itself. Whether you are a resident or visitor, a homeowner or builder, parents or kids, the different course groups are designed to accommodate your individual level of interest in, and knowledge of planning, development and building.

Our "Undergraduate Courses" offer simple and straightforward explanations of what the Planning and Development Department does and basic information on general planning concepts, activities and procedures.  Our "Graduate Courses" are more advanced and focus on specialized terms, tools and processes.  "Student Life" identifies opportunities for citizen involvement in planning related activities in High Point, while "Study Hall" lets you examine planning related articles and research and be among the first to know about current initiatives to improve our community and region.  The "Library" provides information and definitions for a variety of terms and concepts that are commonly used by planners and developers, or that may be mentioned in the individual courses.
