Buildings

Haley House

The Haley House is the oldest house still on its original foundation in High Point. John Haley built his home in 1786 alongside the Salisbury-Petersburg Road. This solid brick structure introduces visitors to the lifestyles of a wealthy Quaker household.

Hoggatt House

The Hoggatt family built their house in 1801. Originally the house stood in what is today the middle of High Point. The Museum moved the structure and restored it in the early 1970s. Today visitors learn about the life of early settlers in this home as they take part in hands-on activities such as quill pen writing.

Blacksmith Shop

The forge in the Museum's blacksmith shop fires up every other weekend as our blacksmith demonstrates his skills by carefully working iron to form everything from nails to horseshoes.

Main Museum

The High Point Museum opened in 1970, and at that time, it was the second largest structure built as a history Museum in the state. The Museum doubled its size with a new wing in 2001. Inside the building, the Museum hosts special exhibitions in its changing gallery and maintains its permanent exhibit of High Point artifacts. The limited-engagement exhibitions allow the Museum to focus on specific aspects of the city's history, while the permanent exhibit provides a more general overview of High Point's history. The boardroom, lecture gallery, and the education classroom are avaible for rental. Click here for details.
