Throughout the year, the Museum hosts special exhibits in its changing gallery in addition to maintaining its permanent exhibit on High Point. These limited-engagement exhibitions focus on specific aspects of the city's history while the permanent exhibit provides a more general historical overview.

Permanent exhibit
The Museum divides the story of High Point into several chapters: High Point's history, the Hall of Commerce, a special collection of Jamestown rifles and the Furniture Discovery Center.
High Point's History
In the main gallery space of the Museum, explore the images and stories that record the individuals who lived, worshipped, and worked in High Point. Along the way, you will:
- meet the Native Americans who first settled the land
- get a glimpse of the Plank Road
- imagine the sound of the time clock at one of the city's many factories
- and have the chance to picture John Coltrane's hands gliding across the keys of his piano.
At the end, you'll know the people of yesterday and today who have helped create the vibrant High Point community.
Hall of Commerce
Once known as the "Furniture Capital of the World," High Point has always been a city of entrepreneurs, pace setters and individuals with dreams who have the vision to make them happen. The Museum's Hall of Commerce showcases local businesses that represent the strong presence of the entrepreneurial spirit that still thrives in High Point, ranging from the company that makes the big yellow school buses to the company that introduced furniture for the office cubicle.
Jamestown Rifles
In a small exhibit, the Museum displays some of the historic rifles made in the area when Jamestown was recognized as one of two early American rifle-making centers in the state of North Carolina.
Furniture Discovery Center
In the future, the Museum will be opening the Furniture Discover Center. This exhibit will explore the furniture making process as it existed in High Point before the furniture manufacturers started shutting down area operations.
