Purchase/ Use of Images


The following information specifies the cost for the use of images, both of items in the collection as well as exhibits.
Scholarly & Non-Profit Fees
No use fees are charged for the use of images in student papers, theses, dissertations, or in scholarly works addressed to limited audiences, or for exhibit in public or private non-profit museums, or for personal use in a private residence.  
Also, no use fees are charged to those organizations able to prove not-for-profit status by providing suitable documentation, such as federal tax-exempt certificates, or letters of identification, e.g. 501(c) 3 status.

Commercial Use Fees
The following fees for commercial use are for one-time, one-edition, North American rights only. Fees may be reduced, depending on the nature of the request or scope of the work at the Director's discretion.

Per Item Costs:
Editorial Use (inside books, magazines, printed media)
 $50 to $75 (depending on intended media)
 
Advertising Use (on book covers, posters, postcards, in adds, etc.)
 $150 to $250  (depending on intended media)
 
Television, film, video, CD-ROM
 $100 to $150 (depending on intended media outlet)
 
Public Display (in restaurants, offices, commiercial exhibits)
 $75
 
Website Use
 $75 (b/w) $100 (color)

A rush charge will be applied to any order requiring copying and deliviery in less than 20 working days.
