The City of High Point Office of Emergency Management within the High Point Fire Department ensures that the citizens of High Point are protected from both natural and man-made hazards through the development of coordinated emergency plans, the response to and recovery from major incidents, and the institution of mitigation measures to lessen the impact of future incidents. The City of High Point Office of Emergency Management also maintains and updates the City of High Point Emergency Operations Plan. The Plan serves as an all-hazards roadmap to the management of major incidents, serves as the City of High Point’s liaison to the Guilford County Local Emergency Planning Committee. The plan is the focal point for the dissemination of disaster preparedness information and outreach for the citizens of High Point (in concert with the High Point Fire Department’s Community Relations Division). The Plan also manages the processes of obtaining federal assistance and disaster reimbursement in applicable situations.
Guilford County is currently in the process of revising the Guilford County Hazard Mitigation Plan, which details how we can reduce the impacts of future incidents caused by hazards of all types. Citizens of High Point are encouraged to complete a brief online survey to share their opinions and enable participation in the planning process.
