5 Points

The Five Points Pride Association (FPPA) is anxiously rebuilding their association to include residents and businesses in the area.  The group has also re-established monthly meetings in an effort to increase membership and eliminating blighted, substandard and boarded houses in the area.  The Association participated in the following activities:

  • Mike McNair, Director of Community Development and Housing Department presented an Action Plan for the year 2006-2007 to the residents of the area.  Comments and concerns from the residents were documented and referred to the appropriate Department within the city.
  • James LeGrande, Chairman of the Five Points Pride Association attended a workshop sponsored by the Community & Neighborhood Development Division on Building Strong Communities. The workshop was presented by Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods in Winston-Salem, NC
  • A special meeting of the FPPA was held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Cha-Ben, 1120 Five Points Place to review past and present status of their goals and accomplishments.
  • The FPPA participated in the Analysis of Impediments workshop sponsored by the Community Development & Housing Department.
  • An increase in drug traffic and crime in the Five Points area initiated a neighborhood meeting at the Washington Terrace Center to discuss the proper procedures for starting a Neighborhood Watch Program. Residents and the High Point Police Department attended the meeting.
