Wendy Fuscoe Wendy Fuscoe, Executive Director

Wendy Fuscoe is a graduate from both NC State (engineering) and UNC (masters in environmental engineering) – and has been the Executive Director for The City Project since August 2008.  She has done community development and emergency relief work around the world in developing countries for the past 15 years – living in Africa for 5 of those years.  In between working internationally, she spent a year working with the City of High Point to develop a Randleman Lake Watershed protection plan, and worked several years for the City of High Point water department.  She is excited to be back in High Point and grateful to be working alongside folks so passionatededicated to making High Point the best it can be.

   

 

Bill Bencini

 

Bill Bencini

He is a manufacturer's representative, supplying components to furniture manufacturers, and on City Council representing Ward 4.

Bill is on this board to support the community's efforts to make our city a more attractive place to live, which will serve as a magnet for economic development and retention of our young people.

What do you love about High Point?  The cooperative spirit between citizens and city hall; recent evidence of such spirit can be seen in the successful Beach Music Blast supporting Children's Home Society, the rapid completion of both the Miracle Field and the West End Women's Shelter, and enormous improvements to the High Point Market.  In his spare time, Bill likes to spend time with family, reading, and motorcycling.

He is currently CEO and Founder of the Rosetta C. Baldwin Foundation/Museum.

Julius is serving on the board because he is concerned about the development of High Point's future, and feels like he can play a small but important role.

What do you love about High Point? The true history of High Point, the people and the seasons.  In his spare time he enjoys fishing, reading and researching High Point's history.

   


 

 

 Aaron Clinard

Aaron N. Clinard

He is currently serving as Chairman of the Board for The City Project, Inc. and working full time as an Independent Sales Associate in Group Marketing for Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. under The Clinard Group.

Aaron previously served for 9 years as Chairman of the High Point Downtown Improvement Committee and cares about the re-shaping of our City into a vibrant urban center.

What do you love about High Point?  He sees High Point as a place that is caring, inviting and progressive. It is also a "Can Do" community and a strong advocate for a significant quality of life for all of its citizens.

When he is not working, Aaron spends time with family; enjoys the out of doors; serves as a Stephen Minister, and pursues his love of history.

 

 John Faircloth

John Faircloth

He is the owner/broker and Vice President of Coldwell Banker Triad, Realtors, and Councilman for Ward 6.         

John serves on the board as a representative of the City Council.

What do you love about High Point?  I love it's "can do" attitude and it's culture of working aggressively on the task at hand. 

In his spare time, John breeds, shows and markets Arabian horses.

He is currently a realtor with Craven-Johnson-Pollock, Inc.

Hal will serve as an asset on the board due to his real estate knowledge and concern for High Point's future.

What do you love about High Point?  This is his hometown and the place where he has lifelong friends.

In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors!

He is the Executive Director for Macedonia Family Resource Center.

Dell is a very proud native of High Point who has a great interest in seeing our town grow and become more competitive in the areas of attracting younger professionals to our community.  He believes High Point needs fresh new ideas that can transcend our community and our way of thinking.

What do you love about High Point? He ABSOLUTELY LOVE the way the High Point Community comes together to battle it's issues.  This town is very caring and giving.

In his spare time, Dell enjoys  watching all sorts of sporting events but enjoys playing basketball and golf.  He also enjoys helping others reach their goals and becoming better people.

 

 Janette McNeill

Janette McNeill

She is the Dean of GTCC High Point campus.

Janette is extremely interested in helping the revitalization effort to improve our city and show the public all the treasures we have in High Point, with a  particularl interest in the development of the area around GTCC. 

What do you love about High Point? The people are fantastic.

In her few spare moments, Janette loves hiking, travel and golf.  She is also involved in the Furnitureland Rotary Events, Chamber of Commerce sub-committees, and several nonprofit boards.

 

 Jim Morgan

He is an attorney.

When asked why he wanted to serve on the board, Jim said "I love High Point and the citizens giving spirit."

In his spare time, Jim enjoys gardening, shag dancing, and beach volleyball.

She is the Senior VP, Premier Commercial Bank.

Leah has an interest in economic development, quality of life in HP (from a personal and professional perspective) which are somewhat dependent upon a vital downtown area and a background in real estate banking.
 
What do you love about High Point?  It has the atmosphere of a small town but amenities of a bigger city. The people are welcoming, inclusive, and generous.
There are nice parks and beautiful countryside. Proximity to major highways, mountains and beach and other points of interest
 
In her spare time, she likes tennis, golf, reading, exercise,
travel, pets and artwork.

 

 Marjorie Rorie

She is the Director of Community Services, Truliant Federal Credit Union.

Marjorie's interest on the board stems from being able to acquire a better understanding of High Point and a need to contribute to its growth.

What do you love about High Point?  She appreciates the many opportunities to participate and to contribute to the well being of residents of High Point.

In her spare time she enjoys participating in fun activities with foster children and grant writing.

She is The First Lady of Furniture! 

Lisa is on the board because she was bound and gagged and threatened with her life.

What do you love about High Point? That we're living a story called Peyton Place.

In her spare time, Lisa loves to walk the streets offering treats.

Gary Simon

He manages a retail store, Simon Jewelers.

Gary is on the board to help to reduce the timeline to create a vibrant new business district for High Point.

What do you love about High Point?  High Point has the most business opportunity due to location - the Furniture Mkt is still viable. High Point University is just starting to take off. High Point Regional Health System is strong. Families are locating to NC and not out of it.  High Point is at an epicenter….. just waiting for someone or some team guidance to put the right spin on the area to take off……again. History shows that High Point has the capacity to be a real force if given the right combination of support, incentives and leadership.

In his spare time, he enjoys his family and paints with acrylics(impressionistic).

She is a City Councilwoman, representing Ward 1.

Bernita is on the board because a good part of the Ward that she represents resides in this area and she has a
vested interest in the redevelopment of our Core communities.

What do you love about High Point? Its independence and desire to create a community that is the single most livable city in America.

In her spare time, Bernita attends church and reads.

He is the Executive Director, High Point Community Against Violence.

Jim cares about High Point, and wants to see things happen that are good for ALL of High Point.

What do you love about High Point?  The people.

In his spare time, Jim either works or rests.

 

 

 Tom Terrell

Tom Terrell

He is a partner at Smith Moore Leatherwood.  Tom is one of the leading land use and zoning attorneys in North Carolina, representing both local governments and private interests, mountains to the coast.

Tom lived the first 18 and past 22 years of his life in High Point's core.  From paper boy to clerk at the old Richardson's Department Store to dock worker at the IHFC building to showroom laborer to lawyer, he has held five jobs in the Core.

In his spare time, he enjoys travel, photography and fishing.

He is currently an attorney at Fisher, Clinard & Cornwell, PLLC.

Jay is serving on the board because he believes that the redevelopment of High Point's Core is vital to the future prosperity of the city and the quality of life of its citizens. 

What do you love about High Point? High Point is friendly city with a great sense of volunteerism and community among its citizens.  It is a place where people work together well to get things done. 

In his spare time he enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with my family.  One of his goals is to read a biography of every US President.
